Perinatal Recovery Champion

Designation

This year, we are proud to introduce a new dedicated learning track focused on substance use disorder and opioid-exposed newborns. Attendees who complete this track will earn a Perinatal Recovery Champion Designation—a credential designed to recognize expertise and leadership in this critical area of care. To be eligible for the certificate, attendees must attend at least 3 workshops in the SUD/OEN Track, as defined in the annual meeting agenda, and complete the pre-work. Upon completion of the track, attendees will receive the TIPQC designation of  “Perinatal Recovery Champion.”

Overview

TIPQC is proud to introduce a new dedicated learning track focused on substance use disorder and opioid-exposed newborns. Attendees who complete this track will earn a Perinatal Recovery Champion Designation—a credential designed to recognize expertise and leadership in this critical area of care. To be eligible for the certificate, attendees must attend at least 3 workshops in the SUD/OEN Track, as defined in the annual meeting agenda, and complete the pre-work. Upon completion of the track, attendees will be provided with a badge buddy designating them a “Perinatal Recovery Champion.”

We encourage every hospital to have at least one participant on this track, as it represents a unique opportunity to deepen knowledge by learning from state and national experts, build skills, and make a lasting impact in your community. 

All participants in the track will receive a binder full of provider and patient resources related to opioid exposed newborns and pregnant patients with substance use disorder.

Instructions to Earn Your Perinatal Recovery Champion Designation:

  1. Pre-Track Requirements:
    • Complete the Pre-Track Survey.
    • Read the required prework articles (linked below).
  2. Track Participation:
    • Attend at least three workshops in the SUD/OEN Track (see agenda for details).
    • Binders with resources will be provided to all track participants.
  3. Post-Track Completion:
    • Complete the Post-Track Survey.
    • Receive your Badge Buddy and a copy of the book “Dopesick” during the final workshop of Day 2.

Step 3: Attend 3 Workshops at TIPQC Annual Meeting

Workshop Attendance

In order to fulfill the attendance requirements, attendees must attend at least three of the following four workshops:
  1. Substance Use Disorder (SUD)/Opioid Exposed Newborn (OEN) Track: History of Addiction, Pitfalls of Toxicology & A Patient’s Reflection Jessica Young, MD, MPH & Anna Morad, MD
  2. *SUD Track: Maternal – Anesthesia & Universal Postpartum Naloxone at Hospital Discharge Jessica Young, MD, MPH & Donald Stader, MD*
  3. *OEN Track: Infant -Nursery Best Practices Karen Schetzina, MD, MPH & Anna Morad, MD*
  4. SUD/OEN Track: Best for All – Mental Health Birdie Gunyon Meyer, RN, MA, PMH-C & Rolanda Lister, MD
*During the second set of workshops on March 25th, attendees will be able to choose which workshop is best for them based on their role (maternal care vs. infant care).*

Step 4: Take the Post Test Survey & Earn Your Perinatal Recovery Champion Designation

You can complete your Post Test Survey and pick up your Perinatal Recovery Champion badge buddy & a book at the end of the third workshop.
