Project Aim

To reduce antibiotic usage in participating Tennessee Neonatal Intensive Care Units and Nurseries by 25% before June 2019.

Ajay Talati, MD is the Sheldon B. Korones Endowed Professor and Chief, Division of Neonatology, The University of Tennessee Health Science Center, and the Director of neonatal-perinatal medicine fellowship.  He serves as the Medical Director of the NICU at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital. Dr. Talati completed medical school and Pediatric residency in India and at Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit, MI. He completed a Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine fellowship in 1999 at the University of Tennessee, Memphis.  He is a practicing academic neonatologist and the leader of the TIPQC Tennessee Neonatal Antibiotic Stewardship Project, as well as previously led the TIPQC Golden Hour project.
